Gipson Statement in Reaction to Secretary Kennedy’s Shameful Warping of Facts and Science

For immediate release:

CARSON, Calif. — Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson (D-Carson) issued the following statement on Donald Trump's Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., after a widely criticized hearing in the United States Senate:

"Secretary Kennedy fails the public health community, and he fails all of us," said Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson (D-Carson). "The Senate hearing was a showcase of his pseudoscientific beliefs, including irresponsible conspiracy theories against preventative vaccines and slandering the professionalism of hardworking federal employees at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention."

"RFK Jr. may not believe medical research has the ability to provide us scientific proof, but his actions are proof that he must resign. He believes we do not have CDC data to show what worked and did not work during the worst period of the pandemic, misinformation that threatens communities like mine. Furthermore, his dangerous attempts to link autism in Black boys to certain vaccines are rooted in false evidence."

"As this reckless Trump official comes out with a rumored announcement about the cause of autism in the days ahead, | must ask parents and especially parents of color to place stock in trusted relationships with their own doctors rather than the MAGA movement."

Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson proudly represents the 65th Assembly District, which includes the cities and communities of Watts, Willowbrook, Compton, Carson, North Long Beach, Harbor Gateway North & South, Harbor City, Wilmington, and San Pedro.
