Gipson Selects ‘Sisters of Watts’ as Nonprofit of the Year

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, Calif --- As part of California Nonprofits Day, Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson chose “Sisters of Watts” as the 64th Assembly District’s Nonprofit of the Year. Earlier this month, Sisters of Watts representatives Robin Daniels and Keisha Daniels joined close to 100 nonprofits being honored in Sacramento.

“There are over 80,000 nonprofits in California that are economic drivers, innovators, and champions for hope and opportunity.  I am honored to have recognized one of them here in the 64th Assembly District” said Asm. Gipson. “Time and time again, Sisters of Watts have demonstrated their passion to help and empower underserved and disadvantaged communities in the South Los Angeles area.  I am proud of the work they do.”

On June 6, 2018, the California Association of Nonprofits (CalNonprofits) held their 3rd Annual California Nonprofits Day highlighting the great work nonprofits are generating in communities all across the state.  Legislation in Sacramento declared June 28, 2018 as California Nonprofits Day.

The Mission/Vision for Sisters of Watts, Inc. is to dedicate its efforts to promoting empowerment of exploited, ignored, underprivileged and less fortunate children, teens and young adults in the inner cities of Los Angeles, California.  Sisters of Watts was founded by Robin Daniels, Keisha Daniels, Penny Daniels, Jessica Crummie, Tamisha Citizen, Tamatha Clemons, Joann Smith, and Joya along with the help of family and friends who all has both done extensive work within the community.
