SACRAMENTO, Calif --- With the advocacy of Assemblymember Mike Gipson, the California Transportation Commission approved $27.6 million in funding for the Trade Corridor Enhancement Program.
The grant proposal was led by LA Metro as well as the Ports of LA and Long Beach. These funds will improve transportation efficiency and safety while reducing emissions in one of California’s most congested highway networks.
“The Port of LA is vital to California’s economy” said Gipson. “I want to ensure that the port remains an engine for economic growth while managing its impact on the environment. This funding for two rail system projects will reduce truck emissions while keeping goods moving swiftly and sustainably through the port.”
Gipson’s efforts have also helped secure roughly $330 million in grant funding for LA Metro through the Transit and Intercity Rail Capital Program for transformative transit and rail projects. These funds will help reduce congestion significantly in Los Angeles.
Mike A. Gipson represents the 64th Assembly District. The district includes the cities of Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Lynwood, North Long Beach, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Torrance, Watts/Willowbrook and Wilmington.
