Gipson Responds to Latest State Budget Proposal

For immediate release:

Sacramento, Calif --- Assemblymember and Democratic Caucus Chair Mike A. Gipson released the following statement in response to Governor Jerry Brown’s May revise of the California state budget.

“Today’s May Revise from the Governor which outlined higher than expected revenues is yet another example that California remains on track for strong growth. With our golden state now the 5th largest economy in the world, we must continue the very same investments and values that have gotten us here,” said Asm. Gipson.  “In the coming weeks, I look forward to joining my colleagues to delve into the Governor’s proposal and conduct a line-by-line review to make sure we craft a budget that is responsible, prudent, and protects critical programs important to the people of the 64th Assembly District and California.”

“I would also like to recognize Governor Jerry Brown for his leadership and commitment to our state over the last eight years.  This Governor not only inherited billion dollar deficits when taking office, but helped tighten up our purse strings to rebound us from the greatest recession since the great depression.  As he releases his last budget proposal and for his many years of service, I say thank you.”
