Carson, Calif --- Assemblymember and Democratic Caucus Chair Mike A. Gipson released the following statement in support of today’s announcement by Dick’s Sporting Goods to no longer sell assault-style rifles, high capacity magazines, and raise the age limit from 18 to 21 to purchase a gun.
“Dick’s Sporting Goods is doing the right thing and I commend them for it. If Congress won’t act, our recreational retail establishments that carry these types of weapons must,” said Asm. Gipson. As Democratic Caucus Chair, I am calling on additional businesses who sell assault-style rifles to ban these weapons from their store and raise the age from 18 to 21 to lawfully purchase a gun. It is a tragedy that the leadership in Washington does not value the life of Americans.”
