Gipson Tapped as Member of Transportation Committee

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, Calif --- Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson, Chairman of the Assembly Democratic Caucus, was appointed to the Assembly Transportation Committee today by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.

“I am both honored and privileged to serve on this very important committee, and I thank Speaker Rendon for his confidence in me” said Asm. Gipson.  “Last year this state legislature passed one of the most robust and historic transportation packages in modern history that invests in our roads, bridges, and creates jobs. As the newest member of the transportation committee, I look forward to harnessing that momentum to accomplish our economic, transportation and environmental sustainability goals.

The Appointment of Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson fills a vacancy on the Assembly Transportation Committee, bringing the total to 14 Assemblymembers.

“As the Transportation Committee continues its leadership role on freight transportation issues, it is critical for the committee to possess a strong base of knowledge about the importance of ports to local communities and the broader economy,” said Port of Los Angeles Executive Director Gene Seroka. “It is with this in mind that we welcome the news of Assemblymember Mike Gipson’s appointment to the Assembly Transportation Committee, and as a representative of port adjacent communities like Wilmington and Harbor Gateway, he is keenly aware of the challenges and opportunities facing California’s ports.”
