SACRAMENTO, Calif --- The California Natural Resources Agency just announced the approval of 39 projects across the state, with three of them coming as a result of Assemblymember Gipson being a champion for green space and the environment. These projects will receive funds under the Urban Greening Program, which is financed by Cap-and-Trade revenue and is focused on projects that reduce greenhouse gases, decrease energy consumption, or provide other environmental benefits.
The three projects that will be in the 64th District are:
- California Greenworks, Inc., $150,000, South Los Angeles Urban Community Greening and Citizen Forestry Project,
- City of Compton, $1,207,921, Alameda-SR 91 Urban Greening and Water Reclamation Project, and
- From Lot to Spot, $104,166, Watts Urban Tree Canopy & Rain Garden Parkways.
"These projects strike the perfect balance between protecting our environment while also creating opportunity and putting people to work,” stated Assemblymember Gipson. “The projects will take place in areas where many of my constituents feel like they have been left behind and forgotten, but they are well-deserving and I am glad to be able to do my part in closing the gap between the state resources available and the relevant projects in my district that could use the support.”
