CARSON, Calif --- Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson (D-Carson), chair of the California Assembly Democratic Caucus, is rebuking Trump’s latest attack on women.
“Conservative Republicans have long voiced their protest against abortion and a woman’s right to choose. Trump’s latest mandate would give employers the right to ban contraceptives from employee health plans. It should make sense that prevention of pregnancy would lessen abortion rates,” said Assemblymember Gipson. “But, then again, there is no making sense when it comes to his policy making.”
“I support California Attorney General Xavier Becerra’s announced threat of legal action against the Trump administration over its decision to limit the Obama-era rule that requires employers to provide for contraceptives in their health plans,” said Gipson. “I further agree with the American Civil Liberties Union and Planned Parenthood that this federal action unlawfully discriminates against the fundamental rights of women.”
