Gipson urges White House to keep DACA

For immediate release:

SACRAMENTO, Calif --- Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson, chair of the California Assembly Democratic Caucus is urging the White House to retain DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals), a federal deportation protection program for children who were illegally brought to this country.

“Many adults who were brought to this country as children have only known America as their home. Immigrant children have grown up here to become productive Californians,” said Assemblymember Gipson. “Since 2012, DACA has allowed these young people to receive education and become vital members of the nation’s workforce. I urge the White House to continue this program and work with Congress to pass the DREAM Act of 2017 to create a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients.”
