Mobile Park Owner Disclosure Act Signed by Governor

For immediate release:

Sacramento, Calif – Today, Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill (AB) 294, known as the 2017 Mobilehome Park Owner Disclosure Act. AB 294 amends current law to require the management of a mobilehome park to disclose specific information about the mobilehome park owner within 10 business days upon the request of a homeowner.

"This is a big win for mobilehome owners throughout California and especially in my district where we have a large number of mobilehome parks. This bill requires more transparency and accountability from the mobilehome park owners," said Asm. Mike Gipson. "I would like to thank Tom King and the members of the South Bay Mobilehome Residents Alliance for bringing this issue to my attention. Residents have a right to know who owns the park they live in."

The Mobilehome Residency Law governs residency in mobilehome parks and requires management of a mobilehome park to disclose the name, business address, and business telephone number of the park owner upon a homeowner's request. Now, there will be a 10 day deadline to ensure this information is received in a timely manner.

"I would like to sincerely thank Assemblymember Mike Gipson for introducing this piece of legislation" said Tom King, Chair of the South Bay Mobilehome Residents Alliance and City of Carson resident "AB 294 will give mobilehome park residents the ability to take an issue directly to the mobilehome park owner when it can't be resolved with the park manager."

Mike A. Gipson represents the 64th Assembly District that includes the communities of Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Lynwood, North Long Beach, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Torrance, Watts/Willowbrook and Wilmington.
