(CARSON, Calif ---) Assembly Democratic Caucus Chair Mike A. Gipson released the following statement after today’s unfortunate news regarding Juan Manuel Montes, a California Dreamer and DACA recipient.
“I’m deeply disturbed by the federal administration’s action to remove Mr. Montes from his community in California without any due process or any documentation as to why he was being deported to Mexico despite his protection under DACA. Number 45 is not above the law nor should he trample on legislation that protects our undocumented people. This is why I have introduced Assembly Bill 440 and House Resolution 28 that protects our sanctuary communities and sends the message that California will remain opposed to any federal actions that seek to erode and undermine our people in California.”
