Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson’s Statement on the Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

For immediate release:

CARSON, Calif --- “Just two days after millions of women across the globe marched and rallied for women’s rights on the 44th anniversary of the historical Supreme Court’s decision in Roe v. Wade, President Trump responded by delivering a strong blow against them.

Today, with the sweep of a pen, he reinstituted the Mexico City Policy prohibiting any international family planning charities from receiving federal funding unless they formally agree to not provide abortion services. This also includes educating a woman about the procedure and providing informational materials.

I stand strong with women in protecting their right to make their own reproductive health decisions. This is a human right and fundamental to freedom.

We must remain vocal and vigilant as even more vital services including the right to affordable health care will soon be on his chopping block.”

Assemblymember Gipson represents the 64th Assembly District which includes Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Lynwood, North Long Beach, Rancho Dominguez, South L.A., Torrance, Watts/Willowbrook and Wilmington.
