(Sacramento) - Assemblymember Mike A. Gipson (D-Carson) was appointed to the Council of State Government (CSG) by the Speaker of the Assembly Toni Atkins. Gipson will sit on the Finance Policy Committee, which gives members an opportunity to discuss issues relating to state budgets and fiscal trends.
"It is an honor to have been appointed to the Finance Committee of the Council of State Government," states Gipson. "As our core responsibilities include discussing the continued impact of recessions, taxation, and funding social programs, I am excited to participate in crafting policy that will help build a more equitable and stable economic foundation for generations to come."
CSG is comprised of state legislators from around the nation organized into ten policy committees with the purpose to promote cooperation and identify solutions to address issues of common concern.
"A common problem among states has been the uneven economic recovery following the recent recession," states Gipson. "In California, although we have seen a steady growth in our productivity and a drop in unemployment, many families are still having trouble making ends meet. As a member of the CSG Finance Committee, I hope to engage other lawmakers in discussions focusing on expanding our economic prosperity to include those at lower end of the socio-economic scale."
Mike Gipson represents the 64th Assembly District. The district includes the cities of Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Lynwood, North Long Beach, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Torrance, Watts/Willowbrook and Wilmington.
