You Are Invited: Public Hearing: Assembly Select Committee on Diabetes & Heart Disease Prevention

Please join the conversation about diabetes and heart disease in California at the Assembly Select Committee on Diabetes and Heart Disease Prevention hearing, on Tuesday, September 26, from 6 - 8 p.m., Keck Lecture Hall, Charles R. Drew University.

Join me and other members of the Select Committee for a discussion with experts and community leaders on the repercussions of these two debilitating diseases and related chronic conditions. New cases of diabetes increase each year and if current trends continue, as many as one in three US adults will have diabetes by the year 2050.

Diabetes and heart disease not only cause adverse health outcomes, but also have staggering costs, both on a personal and fiscal level. Diabetes, in particular, is now the most expensive chronic condition in the country in terms of personal health care spending.

This will be the first in a series of hearings to be held throughout the state and will provide a critical base for future discussions and policymaking.

Please join us and add your voice to this important discussion.
