(Sacramento) – Assemblymember Mike Gipson (D-Carson) and more than a dozen members of the Democratic Assembly Caucus held a state capitol news conference to unveil a plan that would deliver relief to California families struggling to keep up with skyrocketing rents. They have proposed more than $1.3 billion on a wide range of affordable housing related efforts. Assemblymember Gipson pointed out that while other critical state programs that were cut during the Great Recession have since been restored, affordable housing funds are not among them and when housing costs are factored in, California has the highest poverty rate in the nation. Here’s more from Assemblymember Gipson in this Assembly Access video.
