“Following today’s release of arrest footage showing the killing of Tyre Nichols at the hands of Memphis, TN police, our communities are once again distraught. My office and I are in contact with our trusted community leaders throughout the district. My heart is yet again broken – ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. However, cooler heads prevail, and we need to let the Justice Department proceed with an investigation and verdict that will speak to the crime committed. Let us pray for the victim, Tyre Nichols, his family, and friends, as well as the others who have been affected by this type of heinous abuse of power.”
