Hello family; as you know, this month I presented a $1.25 million State Budget check to the City of Los Angeles to support the expansion of the South Bay Center for Counseling's (SBCC) Thriving Families Well-being Initiative in Los Angeles. SBCC’s target population is low-income individuals and families who reside in some of Los Angeles County’s most underserved communities-- this encompasses the 65th Assembly District, which I serve. SBCC harnesses the power of community by investing in the gift and talents of residents through the following key areas; social change networks, economic opportunities, individual, family, and community resiliency, and mobilization and action ventures.
Ultimately, this allocated funding is an investment in SBCC’s community-based Family Well-being Initiative that will give families access to both services and opportunities that have an effective record of accomplishments. With this investment, SBCC and its resident partners will also get one step closer to creating an environment that supports the well-being of youth and family and honors the unique capacity of each individual to find their voice and utilize it to make a difference. I will continue to advocate for more life-saving resources for my District and the State of California.
