Quirk-Silva Resolution Proclaims “California Girls and Women in Sports Week”

Friday, February 2, 2018

(Sacramento) – Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (D–Orange County) introduced House Resolution 74, which proclaims Jan. 29, 2018 to Feb. 4, 2018 as California Girls and Women in Sports Week, to the State Assembly on behalf of the Legislative Women's Caucus. Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva lauded the impression high school sports had on her work ethic. “It taught you discipline. I wasn’t a winner. When I swam in high school on the team, I didn’t win one race and I swam for four years,” Quirk-Silva said on the Assembly Floor, “but I was a long distance swimmer, and as some of you know, I stay at things. Even if I lose, I keep coming back.” Listen to the Assemblywoman’s complete remarks in this Assembly Access video.
