(Sacramento) – After the state auditor uncovered $175 million reserve held by the administration of the University of California, Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva (Orange County) and a joint committee, confronted the state auditor’s office, and UC President Janet Napolitano, over the growing size of the UC President’s office. “It’s grown by 11-percent and has 1,667 employees,” said Assemblywoman Quirk-Silva, who sits on the Assembly Higher Education Committee. “I was shocked by that, and it seems quite extensive.” She further expressed the emphasis of the discussion should be focused on cost-savings for students.
